Described as a mix between Van Morrison and Slayer, the Holy Dimes are a DIY law unto themselves, writing, recording and releasing three albums in 2016 alone. Their fourth release, Holy Dimes IV dropped like a plumber’s handkerchief in early 2017. Produced by local luminary, Grim Tilla and recorded live at Dimes HQ, Alice Springs, it quickly sold out of initial pressings. A gift from the rock ‘n’ roll heavens to the Alice Springs community, The Dimes have developed a strong local following, playing and slaying at venues and festivals including Blacken the Globe, Wide Open Space and The Alice Springs Desert Festival.
Early cassette releases, Holy Dimes I and Holy Dimes III were banned for sale from Cafe Gonzo in 2015 for being ‘too damn good’. The Dimes carried on, playing and slaying every pub, coffee shop, art gallery, wedding and birthday party they could find in Alice Springs and setting their sights on the king of all gigs, Wide Open Space 2016.
