is a cellist and songstress, living in Alice Springs with her small family, some chickens and a veggie patch. Her quirky, folk-pop draws on sound influences including Bat for Lashes, Joanna Newsom, Fleet Foxes and Andrew Bird, while song stories stem from life and love lessons that are sung with a splash of bitter sweetness. Ms Xavia began playing solo as a side project over 10 years ago.
She has gained much from experiences had working as a musician in Nashville and abroad and from the long time collaboration, BrotherSister, with her brother, producer-songwriter Dante Nou. She has contributed on countless live and recording projects during this time including Cortney Tidwell (USA), Cookie Baker (VIC) and Alice Gold (UK), and has performed solo in the USA and around Australia, inevitably leading to the recording of her very own, hand made, Tall Tree EP.
Live, Ms Xavia has been described as ‘one of the most unique live shows on the circuit’ (Alasdair MacLean, The Clientele), blending rhythmic cello with striking but delicate vocals, and a small assembly of acoustic instruments and harmonies. This music has been made with love and meaning, a weaving of harmony, rumination and imagery.
