Dem Mob

Hailing the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjantjara Lands in the States upper North West Corner, DEM MOB deliver a brand new sound with a community perspective. The APY is dominated by reggae music but these fellas walk their own path, by being the first rappers to cut tracks in Pitjantjatjara. They seamlessly swap between languages while keeping strong their natural flow. With family roots tying back to Coloured Stone, No Fixed Address and Yothu Yindi, it’s no surprise these young fellas have pioneered a new sound.

“Our music is about acknowledging the teachings of our Elders and the importance of looking after each other in tough times” – JT  “We want to show youngsters that it’s ok to be different and that trying new things is something you shouldn’t be afraid of, but something you should strive for” – Eli

Since their first performance on the NSS Stage at WOMAD 2020, the Fellas have been actively hitting the stages across the state’s Southern region, including Tandanya Cultural Centre for TREATY Festival, Art Gallery of South Australia for First Fridays, and supporting the likes of J-MILLA plus a ground-breaking performance opening for ELECTRIC FIELDS.

2021 will see DEM MOB on the tour circuit and dropping some massive tracks. Coming up these fellas have a bright future.
