Docker River Band

The Docker River Band hail from Kaltukatjara (Docker River) close to the border of NT and WA in the central desert (APY Lands). This small remote community, 230km west of Uluru, is surrounded by cliffs and water holes, horses, gum trees and thriving greenery, clumps of spinifex and endless amounts of red earth and bird life. The band is made up of 5 young men – Roy Jugadai ( Guitar & Vocals ) Albert Porter ( Keys & Vocals ) Thaddeus Mitchell ( Keys ) Peter Bennett ( Bass ) and Dion Bell ( Drums ).

Their dedication to the craft and each other has resulted in the DRB being both recognisably a Desert Reggae band from the central desert, and a transcendent practitioner of the genre, with the potential to reach a wide and diverse audience.

The majority of the songs are in Pitjantjatjara language, and combine dreamy vocals with exceptional musicianship. They sing with pride about life in their community, as well as with hope for the next generation.
